Benefits of Magnesium Lotion Massage
It’s an easy fact to overlook — especially if it’s been a while since your high school biology class — but your skin is the largest organ in your body. As an organ, one of its roles is to absorb nutrients that your body needs.
Magnesium, in particular, has a very high rate of transdermal absorption. A recent study found that topical magnesium (such as a lotion, oil, or spray) has a nearly 100% absorption rate. And because it bypasses the digestive tract, there’s no risk of nausea, diarrhea, or other side effects that sometimes accompany oral supplements.
Here are just a few of the potential benefits of massage with magnesium oil or lotion:
- Fewer muscle spasms
- Improved muscular function
- Lower blood pressure
- Improved quality of sleep
- Reduced feelings of depression and anxiety
- Improved athletic performance
- Fewer migraine headaches
- Lower inflammation levels
- Reduced symptoms of PMS
- Increased energy levels
Can magnesium really do all these great things for your body? Yes, it can! Even if you get an adequate amount of the mineral through oral consumption, magnesium lotion absorbed through your skin can give your physical and mental health a noticeable boost.
