Is there a workable way to search within YouTube captions?
Yes, you can! Just found out now. If you are in the YouTube, go to the horizontal three dots in the like/dislike bar, and a drop down menu pops up. Click on the Open Transcript and it loads up the transcript on the right, if you are watching the video on default view. If you are watching on theater or playlist mode, scroll down and it will be below the playlist or the video on the right. By default, it is up to the user which caption text to show first. Most probably, the English auto generated caption pops up. Click on the small arrow near the caption language and it pops a drop down menu of which language you want to see. If you are on your PC, press the Ctrl+F key or on Mac press CMD+F to find box on the right. Type in the keyword, and it automatically pops up the word that you are searching. But just in case, the word you are searching for, can also be in the comments. So in order to get rid of the comment section, go to the restricted mode to disable the comment section. Now, you can focus on the captions. Click enter or the down arrow in the find box, to search the keyword in the timestamps. Hope it helps!
